FOOTHILL RANCH, CA — Renkus-Heinz added Alejandro Fidalgo to the company’s expanding engineering team. Prior to Renkus-Heinz, Fidalo was with Isaac Daniel Group in Burbank, CA, where he worked on audio-related video-on-demand technologies. Fidalgo will report to engineering manager Tim Shuttleworth, and will be based out of the company's headquarters here.

HONOLULU — Nimitz-class aircraft carriers may look big, but when the cargo includes planes, jets and helicopters, not to mention a nuclear power plant, space is at a premium. For the carrier’s recent seven-day jaunt from Honolulu to San Diego, which treated naval honorees, friends and family members to musical performances in under-deck hangars, Broadcast Support Inc. and Mac West rep Steve McNeil used a DiGiCo SD11 with a full dB Technologies PA rig.

PRAGUE — Czech rental company T Servis has purchased additional L-Acoustics K1 WST line source enclosures from local distributor Pro Music, bringing the tally of K1 enclosures in its rental inventory to 64 and its total count of L-Acoustics boxes past the 350 mark. The company has also relocated recently to a new 33,000-square-foot facility that includes a warehouse, a private rehearsal studio, four production offices, two dressing rooms with showers and its own cafeteria.

PIBRAC, France — Since 1989, the Théâtre Musical de Pibrac (TMP)'s 448-seat amphitheater-style main auditorium has hosted incoming shows and has produced its own, with resident company, Figaro & Co. TMP recently decided to overhaul its distribution network and at the same time upgrade its Harman Soundcraft analog desk to digital, which would be placed on its new Riedel RockNet backbone.

NEW YORK — Broadway’s Leap of Faith is using 12 Neumann digital microphones in the orchestra pits. Sound designer John Shivers and associate sound designer/mixer David Patridge specified Neumann digital mics on the brass and woodwind sections of the orchestra, which were then fed into a Neumann DMI before reaching the DiGiCo SD7 digital console used for the production.
