Northern Sound and Light Announces Retail Expansion

Northern Sound & Light (NSL), a nationally recognized dealer with a growing Internet presence, recently announced the expansion of its retail business in response to a banner year of growth. For 2003, NSL also held several distinctions with leading manufacturers, including being named one of the top selling dealers in their region. Steve Raslevich, president of NSL, credits their strategic and creative use of Internet services to appeal to and serve a diverse customer base. "We started by putting up product Web pages in 1999. Our site has grown to become a comprehensive research and reference site of professional audio and lighting products."

Unlike some Web sites, NSL's site does not provide a shopping cart option, which means NSL customers can more thoroughly compare products before phoning in to place an order. "They know their customer base very well," said Mark Humrichouser, Sennheiser's eastern regional sales manager. "Their Sennheiser sales have grown by more than 280% in the past year. This isn't just a company with an Internet storefront. NSL partners with very good products and has very personable, knowledgeable staff."

Two-thirds of the company's 6,000-square-foot warehouse (pictured) is now dedicated to its retail operations, and its shipping operations have grown 300% in order to keep pace with Internet sales.
