COLUMBUS, OH - Jason Browning, a longtime tour manager for bands including Matchbox Twenty, Stone Temple Pilots and others, died on Dec. 26, 2017. He was 46. A native of Columbus, OH, Browning attended Thomas Worthington High School (Worthington, OH) and Columbus State Community College before getting his start in the entertainment industry working security for artists including Hanson, Marilyn Manson and Rob Thomas.

In 1998, he founded his Columbus-based company, The Browning Group, to provide artist management, tour staffing and event production services, and his client list grew to include acts such as Stone Temple Pilots, Neon Trees, Kate Earl, Staind, Linkin Park, Rob Thomas and Matchbox Twenty — the latter of which he worked with for some two decades.

A statement issued by Matchbox Twenty concerning Browning’s untimely passing described him as “a bright light with a dark sense of humor” who was “always five moves ahead of you in any situation,” adding “to say he will be missed doesn't come close.”

In lieu of flowers, Browning's family has asked that memorial donations be sent to Sidewalk Angels Foundation (www.sidewalkangelsfoundation.org), an organization he served on the board of and was very close to his heart.
