2016 NAMM Show Hits High Note

The 2016 Winter NAMM show welcomed a record number of exhibitors and registrants ANAHEIM, CA – Held Jan. 21-24, the 2016 Winter NAMM Show welcomed a record number of exhibitors and registrants to Anaheim, CA. And while entire sections of the rest of the country were snarled in blizzards and ice storms, the sunny skies of Anaheim, CA shone on hundreds of new-to-NAMM companies paired with an increase in global interest, and those quintessential “only at NAMM” moments made for what many NAMM members called the most exciting NAMM Show in the association’s 115-year history.

In Memoriam: Rose L. ShureNILES, IL — Shure Inc. announced company chairman Rose L. Shure died Jan. 25. She was 95. Mrs. Shure was named chairman in 1995, shortly after the passing of her husband, Sidney N. Shure, who founded the company in 1925. Sidney Shure died Oct. 19, 1995 at age 93. "Mrs. Shure was one of the most intelligent, generous, and caring people I have ever known," said Santo (Sandy) LaMantia, Shure president and CEO since 1996. "She was demanding, yet always respectful.  I learned so much from her, not only about business, but also about being a complete person and leading a full life."

AES Standards Committee Ratifies OCA as Public Open Standard

BOTHELL, WA — The OCA Alliance has noted that its Open Control Architecture (OCA), an open control and monitoring standard that the alliance created for professional audio and AV media network devices, has been officially standardized by the Audio Engineering Society Standards Committee (AESSC) in their published AES70-2015 standard for audio applications of networks — Open Control Architecture. UES Theatre, MoscowMOSCOW — Audio Video Solutions provided an Allen & Heath GLD digital mixing system for an audio refurbishment project at a 500-capacity concert/cinema hall within the headquarters of Russia’s Moscow-based Unified Energy System. The new setup includes a GLD-80 console installed in the control room, with AR2412 and AR84 remote I/O racks located at the surface providing 32 local analog inputs and 16 local analog outputs.
