In Memoriam: David Gibson Swain, 54

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – David Gibson Swain, 54, died Jan. 28 in an accidental fall at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Swain had served as technical director at the PAC, which adjoins the North Charleston Coliseum and Charleston Area Convention Center since the facility opened in 1999.

This year, more than 20,000 fans lined the landing area while millions more followed the TV broadcast. For the 17th time TC Showtechnik was responsible for the sound reinforcement system – and opted for main and supplementary systems from Electro-Voice. Despite the challenging weather conditions, the XLC and XLVC line arrays, Xsubs, TG amps and N8000 controllers performed flawlessly.

Lan Doky performed with Swedish singer and actress Edda Magnason. Also on stage were the other two thirds of Niels' jazz trio - drummer Niclas Bardeleben and bass player Ira Coleman.

UW-Madison’s Wisconsin Union Theater, home to a new L-Acoustics Kara system installed by Clearwing ProductionsMADISON, WI - Sitting on the southern shore of Lake Mendota on the campus of University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Memorial Union building has served as the school’s hub for student government and other organizations, dining, entertainment and general social life since 1928. The crown jewel of the facility is the 1,165-seat Wisconsin Union Theater, which began featuring performances 75 years ago and recently installed its first full-range line array system, an L-Acoustics KARA rig.
