On her recent North American “Hundred More Years” tour, Christian singer/songwriter Francesca Battistelli and supporting act The Afters played venues of all shapes and sizes. Big Thrill Productions of Weatherford, TX and Athens, GA provided a Meyer Sound system based on M’elodie line array loudspeakers and 1100-LFC low-frequency control elements, chosen in part for their ability to adapt to varying room configurations.

BURNSVILLE, MN — Eden Baptist Church had been facing the prospect of a significant investment in acoustical treatments to improve the sound quality within its new sanctuary here. John Vegter, owner of AV integrator Quality Systems, suggested an alternate approach. The church opted for Bose RoomMatch RM7020 and RM9040 array modules, which minimized the need for pricey acoustical treatments.

TAMPA, FL — More than 30 acts performed during Funshine Fest from May 3-5, including Train, the Smashing Pumpkins, REO Speedwagon, Styx, the Wallflowers, Cheap Trick and New Found Glory, among others. The event drew some 20,000 to the Florida State Fairgrounds here. For the Live Nation Amphitheatre main stage, ESI Audio of Tampa provided the new NEXO STM line array elements. ESI Audio president Erick Celeiro functioned as FOH tech, and Ozzy Giron acted as monitor tech on the rig.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — Harman Professional announced staff appointments in its Intercontinental Sales division, which works closely with channel partners and dealers in Canada, Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean region that include Frederico Schuch (pictured here), who was named director of the division and Julian Williams, who was named senior sales manager. Schuch will report to Scott Robbins, executive vice president of global sales of Harman’s Professional Division. He will be responsible for managing a team of eight at the Intercontinental Regional Sales Office in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Williams will report to Schuch.

MELBOURNE, FL — Orbital Sound is supporting Big League Productions’ U.S. national tour of the Broadway musical Dreamgirls, featuring a sound design by Matt Geasey and Mike Tracey. The audio setup includes d&b audiotechnik V-Series speakers and a Yamaha CL5 mixing console. After the production’s 21-week run through the U.S., it heads to Japan later this year. The sound design also specified the use of the Shure UHF-R wireless microphone system, principally using the UR1-M micro bodypack transmitters.
